Boat Registration 1960 - Present
‚ÄčThe Wisconsin Boat Safety and Registration Act of 1959 began the process of boat registration as we know it today. Between 1960 and 1965 boaters were issued an aluminum tag. Starting in 1966 the tag was replaced by a boat registration sticker. These stickers were good for 3 years or prorated depending on when they were purchased. In the 1970s the 3 year expiration was replaced by an annual and has been the same ever since.
